How to be prepared to face Coronavirus?

It’s a long post and its just my thoughts based on Information I gathered, Please check with your physician for treatment etc., but wanted to understand the risk and real facts of the outbreak of Corona virus and measures we as individuals/community can take to stop the spread of this. Its on everyone’s mind right now, When I spoke to friends here in US, they have a very different view compared to lot of my friends outside of US. The general and common response is, I am not going to stop my vacation plans etc, and even compare it to the flu and doesn’t seem to be really concerned that much, and as we know, media and politicians no matter you are a Democrat or Republican, they all have their agendas, so the better approach at this point is not to freak out or panic, although it is important to understand what this corona virus(covid-19) ?

how to be prepared and learn from other countries and even our own states(New York – is doing a good job in controlling it, read about the steps they have taken) who are currently severely impacted and what did they do right(China, South Korea, Italy etc.,) so we can address it before it gets worse, we can slow down the transmission(flatten the curve) and totally blunt out the spike in our own neighborhoods, as experts are predicting it can affect 30-50% of the US population. I would suggest watching/reading from sources like epidemiologist/scientists/virologists who specialize in these contagious diseases rather than from meaningless press conferences by politicians.

If you read any of Yuval Harari’s books(Sapiens, etc., you would appreciate and agree, he is someone to be listened to, his Interview to BBC https://youtu.be/yNxAmRAYagQ

Overall recommendations are to stay away from the news channels creating panic and move on with our lives in a controlled manner and practicing common sense(although common sense is not all that common). Some facts I learnt are this virus can stay on inanimate surfaces for up to ~ 9 days(it’s debatable but from experts it’s in days and not minutes or hours as some politicians are spreading), and if you touch that surface and without washing your hands touch your eyes, nose or mouth – can get infected

Just like other flu viruses it transmits/spreads faster during colder months than warmer months and can come back during the winter months, spreads through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes, not sure if its air borne or not at this stage.

what can we do? wash hands with soap regularly, Social distancing in crowded areas, exercise, some breathing routine(time to start Win hof method again – parasympathetic breathing technique, known to boost the immune health among many other benefits, or any practice that helps expanding your lungs and helps with your breathing more efficiently), eat healthy, drink a lot of water, stay positive and grateful, Thanks to all the nurses, physicians, health workers and all who are working around the clock to help treat this and other diseases every single day 🙏 Hangout with positive people, learn from reliable sources and spread optimism and love!!! #coronovirus #covid-19 #WeCanBeatit #Disciplineequalsfreedom #ExtremeOwnership #ThankstoNursesandPhysicians !!!
